Explorers

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is a proud sponsor of the Law Enforcement Explorer Program. This volunteer program gives young men and women ages 16 to 20 a unique hands-on chance to determine if they want to pursue a career in law enforcement. It also builds trust and cooperation between youth and the police department, and enhances self-confidence, motivation and self-esteem.

Law Enforcement Exploring is part of a national Learning for Life program, which is affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America. The LVMPD currently sponsors Explorer posts which focus in four main fields of law enforcement: Corrections, Crime Scene Investigation, Dispatch and Patrol. Each post is headed by an Advisor, who specializes in the area the post is involved with. These officers and civilian employees train and educate Explorers in a number of law enforcement subjects as well as in the LVMPD operations. The Advisors and Associate Advisors, many of whom are former Explorers themselves, volunteer the time they spend with the program.

INTERESTED IN BECOMING A MEMBER?

Become an LVMPD Explorer and you'll have the opportunity to challenge yourself in ways you never thought possible. You'll also see first hand what it's like to have a career in law enforcement with a nationally recognized police agency. Sounds interesting? Take the first step and find out what it takes to join.

For more information on our program including application requirements, visit www.LVMPDExplorers.com.

Captain Curtis Williams leads the LVMPD's Explorer Program with the assistance of Lieutenant David Lewis and Civilian Employee Kelly Richter. For inquiries or questions, please email: Explorers@LVMPD.com.
