Cold Cases
THEY ARE NOT FORGOTTEN
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Violent Crimes Section are dedicated to the pursuit of justice in each and every case which is investigated. To that end, the Violent Crimes Section has established the Cold Case Detail. A cold case by definition is any murder, missing person, or suspicious death that is not actively investigated for at least one year and, as a result, has been closed from further investigation.
Cold case murders normally fall into three categories:
- Unsolved: No known suspects.
- Unresolved: Suspect(s) known/suspected but never successfully prosecuted.
- Unidentified: Victim identity unknown (Jane or John Doe).
The Cold Case files currently number over 1000 unresolved cases, the oldest being from 1943.
This site will profile cases on a regular basis encouraging anyone with information to contact the Cold Case Investigators with the goal of reaching a resolution. Information, on active cases, and cases which may be known to the reader but not yet profiled, is welcomed.
Visitors to this site are urged to contact the Investigators at:
E-mail: coldcasecorner@lvmpd.com
