BACKGROUND
Born and raised in Las Vegas Nevada, the son of a former Clark County Sheriff's deputy. His law enforcement career began in 1978 when he joined the police academy.

LAW ENFORCEMENT HISTORY
In 1981, he was one of only two officers in the Department chosen to work in the first community relations office located in West Las Vegas. From 1983 to 1987 he worked as a Field Training Officer. In 1987, he was promoted to Sergeant, and worked as a Field Training Sergeant, until assigned to the SWAT Section as team leader in 1989. In 1991 he was assigned to the Gang Unit until 1993. He was then assigned to the Professional Standards Bureau. In 1997 he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned as the SWAT Commander until 2001. He was then assigned to the Internal Affairs Bureau. As Captain, he was assigned to the Human Resources Bureau, until promoted to Deputy Chief in 2004 when he became the Human Resources Division Commander.

  • Optimist Club Outstanding Police Officer of the Year 2001.
  • Unit Citation for Valor, Hostage Rescue, Rodney King Riots
    Meritorious Service Award, Hostage /Barricade
  • Two Sheriff's commendations for outstanding administrative project performance.
  • Designed the "Active Shooter Program" to protect school children from school violence. Training taught to all members of the Department.
  • Member of advisory team that created "Operation Jett Stream" a program designed to teach gang members life and work skills. The program was created by a local teacher and corporate trainer and named in Rod Jett's honor. Training has been provided to more than 400 youth. In addition, professionals have been trained in the Clark County School District, Juvenile Court, Nevada State Youth Parole, and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
  • Jan 2000- One of only18 law enforcement officers in the country selected by the F.B.I. to critique the Emerging Critical Issues in the country and then submit recommendations to the Major City Chiefs in Quantico, Virginia.
