BACKGROUND
Assistant Sheriff Ted Moody was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
LAW ENFORCEMENT HISTORY
Assistant Sheriff Ted Moody joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) in June 1983 following four years of active duty service with the United States Marine Corps, and is a summa cum laude graduate of the UNLV Department of Psychology. He is the founder of the LVMPD Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), which consists of officers who receive specialized training geared to the needs of the mentally ill, and is the "father" of CIT in the state of Nevada. While serving as Deputy Chief of the Investigative Services Division, Assistant Sheriff Moody was the principal architect of the decentralization of the LVMPD property crimes investigations from the Investigative Services Division to the patrol divisions. He is currently responsbile for Law Enforcement Operations, which consist of Central and Valley Patrol Divisions and the Detention Services Division (the Clark County Detention Center). Assistant Sheriff Moody is a former chair of both the LVMPD Use of Force Board and the LVMPD Pre-termination Board, and currently chairs the Sheriff's Asian-Amercan Advisory Council. He is also a board member of the Southern Nevada Children's Advocacy Center (CAC).
