CIVIL PROCESS

In Clark County, the Sheriff has the statutory duty of providing service of process in civil and criminal cases.

WHO IS... AND WHAT IS ... A DEPUTY SHERIFF?

The Sheriff's Civil Process Section Lieutenant, and all of the Section's Deputies and Supervisors, are full time peace officers who are commissioned as Deputy Sheriffs by the Sheriff of Clark County. The office of the Sheriff Civil Process Section acts as a messenger of the Courts in all civil matters. Anything that is not a criminal act is a civil act. We do not get involved in the disputes, but we serve the documents and keep the peace. We are not trained in legal matters, and therefore we cannot give legal advice.
