VINE stands for Victim Information and Notification Everyday. It is a free and anonymous 24-hour telephone service that provides victims and witnesses of crime two important features: information and notification

What is the purpose of VINE?

The Clark County VINE service is provided by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and is funded by the Clark County Commission.  In partnership with The VINE Company. The Clark County VINE became operational on Nov. 1, 2000.

VINE monitors the custody status of offenders booked into the Clark County Detention Center. It receives updated information every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day via an interface with the Clark County booking system. The information is stored at the VINE Call Center in Louisville, Ky.

Callers need a touch-tone telephone to use the VINE service. They need to provide a telephone number, including area code, where they can be reached for notification. They also will need to provide a 4-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Victims, their families, and witnesses register directly with the VINE service by calling the VINE toll-free number.  The Clark County number is accessible from anywhere in the United States. Requirements for registration are explained during the call-in, and are very simple.  Some knowledge specific to the offender or case is usually required to call VINE.

  • The VINE system is available in English and Spanish and is supported by 24-hour operator assistance.
  • VINE provides the following to crime victims and other concerned citizens over the telephone:
  • 24-hour access to inmate custody information
  • The ability to verify the custody of an offender
  • Automatic notification to registered users of a change in inmate custody

Notification calls normally will be made every 30 minutes for 24 hours or until the correct PIN is entered to confirm and stop the notification calls. Notification calls will be left on answering machines but calls will continue every two hours for 24 hours.
